PeoplePlatters® was founded in 2003 by Diana Turk, an at-home-mom looking to do something besides being a mom, wife and volunteer. Diana received her undergraduate degree at UCLA and her law degree at Whittier Law School. Finding law to be unfufilling for her creative personality, Diana chose not to pursue a career as an attorney. A number of years ago, she started making clay figures from cookie cutters and gluing them on plates as gifts for her kids' teachers and then for her parents as well. Everyone loved the plates and Diana's mom gave one as a gift to someone, and then that gift recipient ordered two more plates, and so on. Suddenly, Diana realized a business had been born! When she added charms and accessories to the plates, they suddenly became true representations of the individuals and families for whom they were made.
She developed her website, www.peopleplatters.com, in 2003 and started taking orders over the internet. She also began participating in arts and crafts shows and holiday boutiques. When orders began to pile up, she expanded the business by expediting her clay figure manufacturing and hiring artists to assemble the plates. Today her products are featured in many stores across the country She has three wonderful artists currently on her staff. Production of all of the plates are still overseen by Diana and are handsigned with her initials, DT.
The PeoplePlatters® team has grown over the last few years. It now includes trusted consultants Laura Gallop and Paula Friedman, artist Kara Henriquez, and customer service reps Sam Czubiak and Mariko Chilcott. We also have grown beyond the plate business into personalized dry erase boards, photo albums, keepsake boxes, hairbushes, and more. We do parties as well, where each guest is able to design and take home a personalized dry erase board, keepsake box, hairbrush or platter.
Diana lives in Agoura Hills, California with her wonderful husband, Greg, three fantastic children, Shayna, Andy and Talia, and of course their beloved dog, Dakota!
